Data-backed communications for this coastal fashion brand

Objective

This coastal fashion and lifestyle brand was at the start of its sustainability journey when it brought in a new Head of Sustainability in 2017. Their vision was clear: to implement a new five-year plan, grounded in robust data and driven by a deep commitment to environmental responsibility. At the time, the business produced an annual sustainability report, detailing their key initiatives with their limited environmental footprint. They had strong ambitions to become a certified B Corp, requiring accountability and transparency across the business.

They wanted our expertise to manage, collect and analyse their sustainability data. Additionally, they needed support with their internal and external comms that would not only tell their sustainability story but also steer them towards their aspirational sustainable future embracing circular economy principles.

Action

Our client really wanted to understand customer appetite for sustainability in detail, to inform future plans and set out sustainability targets. We started by streamlining data collection and crunching the numbers to pull out key insights. This rigorous analysis allowed us to truly understand the brand’s target audience and influence key decisions for campaigns and strategies. Having the data to back it up meant that our client could truly demonstrate their sustainability credentials and lead the way in the fashion industry.

Impact

  • Extensive collection, analysis and management of sustainability data
  • A deep understanding both of sustainability practices (present and projected), and of its customers’ appetite for sustainability
  • Setting out clear and compelling communications for the brand’s internal and external audiences
  • Tangible progress towards B Corp certification

Now, six years on, this brand is a household name with over 60 stores around the UK. They are committed to sustainability, with a range of public facing policies and annual impact reports on their website. They also work on various initiatives focused on making planet positive impact.
